LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter has been cast as Gregg Allman in an upcoming Allman Brothers biopic, directed by Randall Miller.
Ritter will star alongside Wyatt Russell, who will be playing Duane Allman in the movie, which is titled "Midnight Rider," and is based off the Gregg Allman memoir "My Cross to Bear," The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.
Ritter and Russell will be performing vocals, guitar, piano and organ for the film.
"The world knows Tyson as a extraordinary musician and performer; now the world will know what an amazing actor he is as well," said Miller.
On Russell, writer and producer Jody Savin said during the audition process, he "blew us away with his total embodiment of the rock icon and his uncanny slide guitar chops."
