HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. alternative rock band the Pixies have parted ways with new bassist Kim Shattuck, who replaced founding bassist Kim Deal this summer, Shattuck said.

Shattuck, who previously performed with The Muffs and The Pandoras, made the announcement Friday on Facebook, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today," she wrote. "Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone."

The Pixies added Shattuck to the group in July for its world tour after parting ways with Deal a month prior. The Pixies are scheduled to play more than two dozen dates in North America beginning in July, The Hollywood Reporter said.
