George Strait named Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards

NASHVILLE, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- George Strait was named Entertainer of the Year at the 2013 Country Music Association Awards ceremony in Nashville Wednesday night.

Husband and wife singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert took home the respective trophies for Male and Female Vocalist of the Year. Shelton also picked up the statuette for Album of the Year for "Based on a True Story."

Florida Georgia Line won the prizes for Vocal Duo of the Year and Single of the Year for "Cruise."

Kacey Musgraves earned the New Artist of the Year honor and Little Big Town garnered the accolade for Vocal Group of the Year.

"Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw and featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban was declared Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood served as co-hosts of the prize presentation.
