Malaysian authorities cancel Ke$ha concert

Oct. 27, 2013 at 10:24 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Malaysian authorities canceled Ke$ha's concert at a Kuala Lumpur stadium despite changes made to her song lyrics ahead of time, the singer's promoter said.

Promoters Livescape Asia said they had worked with Ke$ha ahead of time to comply with concerns from Malaysian authorities about her Saturday concert, CNN reported Sunday.

They worked with her to "modify the show to suit the Malaysian culture and sensitivities, including having made adjustments to her song lyrics, wardrobe changes, and a set list that was modified to specifically adhere to the guidelines set forth by the authorities," the promoters said.

But authorities pulled the plug anyway.

Ke$ha took to Twitter to defend the concert's cancellation.

"To be clear. I did NOT cancel. I was not allowed to play. and then I was going to play anyways and was threatened with imprisonment," she wrote.
