LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer Austin Mahone was hospitalized Thursday and forced to postpone his planned concert tour until 2014, People.com reported.
"Mahone was rushed to the hospital at 9 a.m. Thursday morning," a source close to the 17-year-old musician told the celebrity magazine, adding he had been feeling ill for several days. "It's unclear what the singer's condition is at this time."
"Due to illness, Austin Mahone will unfortunately have to postpone his sold-out 'MTV Artist to Watch Presents Tour' to 2014," an official statement about the tour said. "The singer ... is now on strict doctor's orders to stay on rest and will need to reschedule all dates on the tour."
"Austin is very upset about this & we want to say we are sorry to all the Mahomies & their parents who have made arrangements to come out," Mahone's mother Michele tweeted. "We feel very bad... Thank you for your prayers."
The teen performer's condition and the nature of his illness were not immediately known.
