Emma Thompson to co-star in staging of 'Sweeney Todd'

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- British actress Emma Thompson is to play Mrs. Lovett in a staged production of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," the New York Philharmonic said.

This will mark Thompson's Philharmonic and New York stage debuts.

Bryn Terfel is to star as Sweeney Todd in the production, which will be conducted by Alan Gilbert and directed by Lonny Price.

Performances are to take place March 5-8.

Thompson's film credits include "Nanny McPhee," "Sense and Sensibility," "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Love Actually."
