LONDON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Adele is to play Dusty Springfield in an upcoming bio-picture about her fellow British soul singer, The Daily Star reported.

"Adele is attached to a project, but it's in the early stages of development," an insider told the U.K. newspaper.

Springfield died of breast cancer in 1999. She was 59. Among her hits were "Wishin' and Hopin'," "Son of a Preacher Man" and "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself."

Adele, 25, is an Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning recording artist known for her songs "Rumor Has It," "Rollin' in the Deep" and "Skyfall."
