NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- "All That Glitters," a stage musical based on the life of the late entertainer Liberace, is to open on Broadway next year, producers announced Thursday.

Former "Three's Company" co-star Richard Kline is to play the flamboyant musician, who died of AIDS in 1987. He was 67.

Featuring costumes by Bob Mackie, "All That Glitters" is to open on Broadway in December 2014, following a fall tryout in Toronto. It will be directed and choreographed by Alexander DeJong, who also wrote the music and lyrics.

"Best defined as an 11-years-in-the-making, gigantic musical event about the greatest showman on earth, a man whose single name changed the global entertainment industry into a money machine and a guaranteed good time, 'All That Glitters' is on its way to establish the Liberace brand on Broadway, the most iconic address on the entertainment map and the only one Liberace did not conquer," a news release said.
