LAPEER, Mich., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Alex Band, the lead singer of the rock group The Calling, was abducted, assaulted and dumped on train tracks in Michigan during the weekend, TMZ said.

Band, 32, left his Lapeer hotel and was walking to a nearby convenience store at around 4 a.m. Sunday when a van pulled up and the people inside yanked the musician off the street and beat him, the celebrity news website said.

His band members noticed he was missing, formed a search party for him and found him severely injured on nearby train tracks.

Band's condition was unclear Monday, TMZ said, adding police are investigating the incident.
