Irish actress and singer Bernie Nolan dead at 52

LONDON, July 5 (UPI) -- Irish actress and singer Bernie Nolan has died of breast cancer, her family said. She was 52.

The former lead singer of The Nolans was first diagnosed with the disease in 2010.

"Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her," a representative for her family told the BBC Thursday. "The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable."

Nolan was also known for her acting roles on the TV shows "The Bill" and "Brookside."
