LOS ANGELES, June 13 (UPI) -- Sandra Bullock is in talks to play horrible headmistress Miss Hannigan in the upcoming big-screen musical "Annie," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Jamie Foxx is to play the billionaire who saves Quvenzhane Wallis' adorable urchin from a squalid orphanage in the movie, which is being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z, and directed by Will Gluck.

The Hollywood Reporter said the filmmakers met with Bullock in March, but a deal wasn't made and the Oscar-winning actress ultimately passed on the project.

The two sides recently returned to the negotiating table, however, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

Carol Burnett played Miss Hannigan in a 1982 movie musical, while Jane Lynch is playing the role in a revival of the stage show on "Broadway."
