SAN DIEGO, May 19 (UPI) -- Singer Tim Lambesis' lawyer said the As I Lay Dying front man was taking steroids before being arrested for allegedly hiring a hit man to kill his wife.
Lambesis was arrested May 7 for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife, Meggan. The rocker pleaded not guilty in a San Diego court to a charge of solicitation of murder.
His lawyer, Thomas Warwick, said Lambesis had recently become interested in body building and eating healthy, and had been taking nutritional supplements and steroids, U-T San Diego reported Friday.
"His thought processes were devastatingly affected by his steroid use," Warwick said.
Warwick asked Judge David Berry to reduce Lambesis' bail from $3 million to $250,000, the newspaper said.
Berry agreed to reduce the bail to $2 million, which Warwick said was too high for his client.
