STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 11 (UPI) -- Swedish alcohol regulators are pulling the plug on a beer made by the British rock band Iron Maiden over the skull on its label.
A spokesman for the state-run liquor store monopoly Systembolaget said the band's beer labels didn't meet specifications for how beer can look, TheLocal.se said Saturday.
"There has been a discussion about the label. The alcohol law stipulates how it can look. We therefore don't yet know when it can be launched," said Therese Elmgren at Systembolaget.
The skull label was taken from the group's 1983 hit single "The Trooper."
It isn't the first time liquor regulators prevented a product's sale over labeling concerns. A Danish brewery had its beer pulled over the depiction of a topless woman in December. The brewery was made to change the label before it could sell the beer in Sweden.
