As I Lay Dying singer arrested for trying to hire a hit man

SAN DIEGO, May 8 (UPI) -- Tim Lambesis, the lead singer of the heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, has been arrested on suspicion of trying to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department told the Los Angeles Times the 32-year-old musician was arrested Tuesday and booked on suspicion of soliciting a murder.

He allegedly attempted to hire an undercover sheriff's detective to kill his spouse in a sting set up after police were tipped off Lambesis was looking for a hit man, the Times said.

His wife's name, how long they were married and why they split up were not reported.
