MAZAN, France, May 4 (UPI) -- Onlookers said actress Keira Knightley was radiant for her wedding in France this week, although the couple's transportation was notable for a lack of elegance.

"It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio," one spectator in Provence told Britain's The Daily Telegraph. "It certainly looked as though it had seen better days."

The trusty Renault was up to the task of whisking the 28-year-old star and new hubby James Righton off to a reception at the country estate of the bride's mother, playwright Sharman MacDonald.

The Telegraph said the guest list included members of Righton's band, the Klaxons, and designer Karl Lagerfeld, who created Knightley's cream-colored gown.

Knightley -- best known as one of the stars of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies -- received a best actress nomination for "Pride & Prejudice" in 2005. Her screen credits include "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace," "Love Actually" and "Atonement."
