LOS ANGELES, March 12 (UPI) -- Peter Banks, a guitarist who performed with Yes in the 1960s, has died of heart failure at his London home, his family said. He was 65.

Rolling Stone magazine confirmed Tuesday he was found dead last Thursday after he failed to show up for a recording session.

After leaving Yes in 1970, Banks performed with the bands Flash and Empire, and enjoyed a successful solo recording career.

Rolling Stone said plans for Banks' funeral had not been announced.
