MELBOURNE, March 1 (UPI) -- Adrian Thomas, the Australian nightclub disc jockey and electronic producer known as DJ Ajax, was killed by a truck Friday in Melbourne, Billboard.com reported.

The vehicle struck Thomas early in the day after his birthday party, the report said. He was 41.

No other details about the accident were immediately available.

Thomas was a founding member of the Bang Gang DJs crew and co-founder-director of the music label Sweat It Out, Billboard.com said.

He was "instrumental in shaping the landscape of Australian dance music," a label statement said.

"He was a hugely talented individual and was highly respected by the local and international dance music community as a pioneer and innovator. Adrian touched so many people and it is impossible to sum up his legacy in words."
