MC Hammer facing resisting arrest charge

DUBLIN, Calif., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Rapper MC Hammer indicated Saturday he was a target of racial profiling when a police officer arrested him for resisting arrest outside a mall in Dublin, Calif.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office confirmed Hammer, born Stanley Kirk Burrell, 50, was arrested Thursday night, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Hammer, who lives in Tracy, posted messages on Twitter Saturday afternoon in which he said he was sitting in his car after lifting weights when a Dublin officer he described as a "chubby elvis-looking dude" tapped on his car window and asked him "Are you on parole or probation?"

"While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet," Hammer tweeted.

"It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop) !!! But make no mistake he's dangerous."

Hammer added in another tweet that the "only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge."

He concluded by saying "contrary to his [the officer's] personal beliefs, all people of color are not on parole or probation fat boy !!!"
