HEBER SPRINGS, Ark., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Singer Mindy McCready was never a suspect in her fiance David Wilson's January gunshot death, authorities in Arkansas say.

McCready, who had long battled addictions to drugs and alcohol, shot herself to death Sunday, just weeks after her live-in partner was found dead of a gunshot wound in their Heber Springs home.

While authorities immediately classified the faded country music star's death at age 37 a suicide, they have said Wilson's death remains under investigation and the cause as-yet-undetermined.

McCready had denied any involvement in Wilson's dying before she took her own life.

Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told TMZ Tuesday McCready was never considered a suspect and was consistent in her accounts of what happened the day Wilson died.

"Mindy never changed her story," Ross told the celebrity news website.
