WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Kelly Clarkson said she hadn't shaved her armpits or legs and was "so not a girl" when trying on wedding dresses for her upcoming nuptials.

Clarkson told People magazine she found her wedding dress during a Feb. 1 visit to Vera Wang's boutique in West Hollywood, Calif., but dress shopping didn't go as she imagined.

"I was in the changing room, and I looked at my armpits, and I was like, 'Are you kidding me? I look like a cave woman!'" she said.

"And then I took my pants off, and I was like, 'Oh my God, my legs match!' My nails looked like a hot mess; my eyebrows looked like bushes. I was so not a girl. I started tearing up because I'm like, 'This is not me. I'm usually not this gross. I'm just so busy!'" she added.

On top of that, her friend became ill during the dress shopping, "like in the movie 'Bridesmaids,'" Clarkson said.

Clarkson, who became engaged in December to boyfriend Brandon Blackstock, said the dress she selected is "nothing like a princess thing" -- it's more like "my personality in a dress."

"It's sweetly damaged. A little rock and roll. A little tattered," she said.
