LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. singer John Mayer, who dated Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift, admits his reputation as a bad boyfriend was well earned.

Also among the recording artist's famous exes are Jennifer Love Hewitt and Minka Kelly.

Mayer, 35, has been dating Katy Perry since June.

"I was just a jerk," Mayer said of his past romances in an interview to air on the next edition of "CBS Sunday Morning."

"It's very liberating when you finally realize it's impossible to make everyone like you," he said. "I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."
