LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- The Alan Parsons Live Project world tour is to kick off Feb. 14 in Fort Pierce, Fla., producers said Tuesday.

Parsons, 64, is a famed British musician, songwriter, audio engineer and record producer. His latest shows coincide with the 40th anniversary of his engineering the iconic Pink Floyd album "The Dark Side of the Moon," which has sold an estimated 50 million copies.

The tour will include eight U.S. concerts in February, as well as gigs in Germany, Austria and Holland in March.

The tour may also include concerts, festivals and appearances still to be confirmed in Germany, Italy, Turkey and Paris.

"This legendary talent began his storied career as an assistant engineer at the famed Abbey Road Studios working on projects such as The Beatles' 'Abbey Road' and 'Let It Be,' and quickly became one of the most sought-after names in the recording industry for his engineering work on Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon,'" a news release said of Parsons' achievements.

"After earning accolades for his work behind the glass, Parsons, a true Renaissance man and talented musician, formed The Alan Parsons Project, a multi-platinum selling, progressive rock band featuring Parsons, his collaborator Eric Woolfson and a rotating cast of studio musicians. The Alan Parsons Project garnered commercial and critical acclaim for such Billboard Top 40 hit singles as 'Eye in the Sky,' 'Time' and 'Don't Answer Me' among other successes."
