NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- British rock icon Mick Jagger says he and the Rolling Stones are still performing together after 50 years because "people like us."

The group recently performed a string of anniversary concerts and took the stage at the star-studded Hurricane Sandy relief concert in New York this week.

"People say, 'Well, why are you still together?'" Jagger told ABC News. "And I say: 'Well, because people like us. If people didn't like us, I'm sure we wouldn't be playing.'

"Of course, we love playing because we love playing music together. But you have to have both of the parts of the equation."
