LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Singer Jenni Rivera's remains have been identified and released to the recording star's family, a spokesman for Mexico's Nuevo Leon state told CNN Thursday.

Rivera, 43, was killed along with six other people Sunday when their plane plummeted from 28,000 feet into a mountainous region.

The remains of Rivera's publicist and the plane's co-pilot have also been identified, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation, CNN said.

Rivera sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and was recently named one of People En Espanol's 25 most powerful women. The mother of five children starred in the reality TV show, "I Love Jenni" and was set to headline an ABC sitcom called "Jenni."

Funeral arrangements for the star have not been announced yet.
