No charges in Chris Brown iPhone case

MIAMI, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Prosecutors said they won't charge U.S. singer Chris Brown with theft since there is no evidence he tried to make off with a phone he swiped from a fan.

Brown, 23, allegedly grabbed an iPhone Christal Spann was using to take a photo of the singer as he entered a limousine with rapper Tyga, a Miami police report from Feb. 19 said.

Spann chased after the vehicle demanding the return of her phone, but was told Brown had thrown it from the vehicle. Spann was able to retrieve the phone from Tyga's bodyguard, who had picked it up from the ground.

The Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office told E! News it will not issue a warrant for Brown for robbery by sudden snatching because there was not enough evidence to prove he had intended to steal the phone.

Since there were no charges, the incident shouldn't affect Brown's probation for his 2009 assault on fellow singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna, E! News reported.
