SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Drug charges against Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter, Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, were dropped, the Oneida County District Attorney's Office in New York said.

Bongiovi was arrested Wednesday after allegedly overdosing on heroin.

The Town of Kirkland Police Department in upstate New York told TMZ police and emergency medical personnel responded to a 911 call saying Bongiovi was found unresponsive in her dorm room at Hamilton College after using the illegal drug.

Investigators said they found heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the scene.

The rock icon's daughter was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Ian S. Grant, 21, was arrested at the scene and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Grant was the one who called 911 to get help for Bongiovi.

"By law, they have to be dropped," prosecutor Scott D. McNamara told the Syracuse Post-Standard about the charges against Bongiovi and Grant, referring to a 2011 amendment to the New York State Penal Law that exempts from possession charges a person who seeks help for an individual experiencing a "drug or alcohol overdose or other life-threatening medical emergency."

The person about whom the call is made is also exempted from prosecution, the newspaper said.

Bongiovi's medical condition following the incident was not reported.
