CHICAGO, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Jazz-folk singer Terry Callier has died in a Chicago hospital after battling throat cancer, his family said. He was 67.
Callier, who died last Saturday, enjoyed a career that spanned half-a-century. Best known for his albums "Occasional Rain," "What Color Is Love," "I Just Can't Help Myself," "Fire on Ice" and "Turn You to Love," he also worked as a computer programmer in the 1980s while raising his daughter, Billboard.com reported.
"He was by far the most moving performer I have ever seen and could make a crowded room fall silent with a breath," Jane Dudworth, a spokeswoman for Callier's record label Mr. Bongo,
said in a statement. "The guaranteed queue of love-struck women after the gigs was a testament to his charm."
The label said on its website details regarding a memorial in London will be announced soon.
