NEW YORK, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Madonna took off her shirt at a New York concert this week, revealing the word "Obama" painted across her lower back, The Hill reported.

The 54-year-old pop icon showed her support for U.S. President Barack Obama the same night he accepted the Democratic party's nomination for re-election.

Speaking at her show at Yankee Stadium Thursday, Madonna also praised the first lady, The Hill reported.

"Thank God for Michelle Obama," Madonna said.
