Police in Foxboro, Mass., arrested 101 concertgoers and placed 466 others into protective custody over two nights of the New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium, home of the NFL's New England Patriots.
The two-day festival was the last stop of Chesney and McGraw's Brothers of the Sun Tour, which started in Tampa., Fla., June 2.
The arrests involved a variety of illegal activities including possession of alcohol by a minor, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, trespassing, assault and battery, and assault and battery on a police officer, Sgt. Richard Noonan was quoted in the Boston Herald as saying.
One person was arrested for drug possession. Another was charged with operating motor vehicle under the influence, leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident and negligent operation of the vehicle.
The arrested suspects are to be arraigned throughout the week, Noonan said.
Gillette Stadium spokesman Jeff Cournoyer said "well over 99 percent" of the more than 110,000 fans who attended the festival "had a safe and enjoyable experience, thanks to the combined efforts of stadium security, local police and state police."
