LONDON, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Mitch Winehouse, the father of the late British singer Amy Winehouse, said proceeds from the musician's posthumous album will go to an Irish children's hospice.

Mitch plans to give LauraLynn house in Dublin, Ireland, a check for more than $31,000, the BBC reported Friday.

The LauraLynn house was set up by parents whose two daughters -- Laura and Lynn -- died within the space of two years. Mitch said Amy always loved children and he thinks she would have approved of giving money to the charity.

"Amy loved kids and she loved babies. When she passed away the very first projects that we looked at supporting were children's hospices," Mitch said. "We can only second guess what Amy would have wanted but I know she would have wanted to support this charity.

"When we received the money from Amy's album we started to look for a charity to support and that's when we decided to support LauraLynn."

Mitch said the proceeds from his book, "Amy: My Daughter," will also go to the foundation, BBC reported.

The "Back in Black" singer died in July 2011 at age 27 of alcohol poisoning.
