HOLLYWOOD, July 7 (UPI) -- Photographers spotted pop stars Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez holding hands in Hollywood, Calif., despite reports the relationship was on the rocks, TMZ said.

The couple were spotted at the Pink Pepper restaurant Friday for a romantic dinner date, TMZ reported.

When photographers asked Bieber about the status of the relationship, he responded, "What does it look like?"

The celebrity gossip Web site reported Monday the two had broken up last week but had since rekindled the relationship.

A source whose name was not reported told People magazine Gomez "was crying about Justin and was upset" while attending a birthday party for actress Ashley Tisdale last week.

Photos from the event show Gomez in good spirits, dancing with Bieber's close friend, Alfredo Flores, People reported Thursday.
