LOS ANGELES, July 1 (UPI) -- U.S rock band Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin signed his divorce papers with two smiley faces, Scantlin's ex-wife's lawyer said.

The singer agreed to pay $2,500 per month in alimony to his former wife of four years, Jessica, TMZ reported Sunday.

She originally wanted the Los Angeles court to dismiss the couple's pre-nuptial agreement so she could take half of Scantlin's assets, but she ultimately agreed to the monthly payment, TMZ said.

"It's most definitely the first time in all my years of doing this work that I've have had an opposing party sign with a smiley face on a divorce decree imposing maximum spousal support," Jessica's lawyer, Brian Kramer, told TMZ.

"It's certainly a refreshing change to see an artist who is cheerful about honoring such an obligation instead of treating it like it were the end of the world," he added.
