NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- The Broadway musical "Sister Act," starring Raven-Symone, is to close in August, producers announced Wednesday.

Based on the 1992 music-infused convent comedy by the same title, the show premiered in New York March 24, 2011, at the Broadway Theatre after a 2009 London debut.

Playbill.com said when it closes Aug. 26, "Sister Act" will have played 28 previews and 561 performances at the Broadway Theatre. It officially opened there April 20, 2011.

A national tour is to begin in October in Toronto.
