LONDON, June 2 (UPI) -- The producer of "'Slumdog Millionaire" is going ahead with plans to create a musical of the movie without British director Danny Boyle.

The creative team behind the Oscar-winning film -- Boyle, screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and composer A. R. Rahman -- said they would only work on the adaptation if all three were involved in the project, The London Independent reported.

The executive producer of the film, Paul Smith, who owns the rights to the movie, became frustrated with delays and decided to go ahead with the musical production without Boyle due to creative differences, The Independent said Saturday.

Julian Fellowes, creator of "Downton Abbey," is set to write the musical, while Matthew Warchus is in talks to take over directing duties, the newspaper said.
