HOLLYWOOD, May 27 (UPI) -- "Castle" star Stana Katic has signed on to join the cast of "CBGB," a film about the storied New York rock club, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Avatar" actor Joel David Moore and Katic are the latest round of actors to join the large supporting cast portraying real-life rock 'n' rollers and music industry players, THR reported Friday.

Katic is set to portray Genya Ravan, a music producer and former lead singer of 1960s rock band Goldie & the Gingerbreads. Moore will play 1970s punk band The Ramones' lead vocalist, Joey Ramone.

The two join actors Alan Rickman, Rupert Grint, Malin Akerman and Julian Acosta among others on the production, scheduled to begin shooting June 25 at Meddin Studios in Savannah, Ga. The production, helmed by director Randall Miller, will move to New York City to finish filming, THR reported.

Miller and Jody Savin co-wrote the script for "CBGB."
