NASHVILLE, May 23 (UPI) -- Donna Summer's friends and family gathered at a Nashville church Wednesday for the music icon's private funeral.

CNN said Summer's relatives have not released details regarding the service to the media and cameras were banned inside the church.

TMZ said about 1,000 mourners, including famed music producers David Foster and Giorgio Moroder, attended the ceremony.

Summer, a Boston native who lived in Nashville for nearly two decades, died of lung cancer May 17 at age 63.
