PARIS, April 27 (UPI) -- German-born conductor Kurt Masur, 84, is hospitalized in Paris after losing his balance and falling during a concert, the National Orchestra of France said.
The former principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra did not suffer serious injuries and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, the BBC reported Friday.
Masur, who is the honorary musical director of the National Orchestra of France, had been leading a performance Thursday night when he fell off the stage at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees and into the front row, the report said.
"After a reassuring in-depth examination, [Masur] is resting in hospital," the orchestra said in a statement. "He took a few steps this morning and is expected to leave hospital soon."
