LAS VEGAS, April 25 (UPI) -- Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer says Jack White is composing the score for the upcoming adventure flick, "The Lone Ranger."

The movie stars Armie Hammer as the titular hero and Johnny Depp as his loyal sidekick, Tonto. It is set for release next May.

The White Stripes and Raconteurs musician is to write, produce and perform the music for the film. This will mark White's first big-screen, score-composition effort although he has written and performed songs that appeared on movie soundtracks, E! News said.

"We're going to have a little rock n' roll score, and I can't wait to hear his rendition of the 'William Tell Overture,'" Bruckheimer said at CinemaCon, a convention for film critics and theater owners, in Las Vegas.

"We have the classic elements, the big white hat for the Lone Ranger, though he's not wearing his blue suit. But he has his black mask, and he has silver bullets, and of course he has his horse Silver. Everything else is slightly different."
