LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) -- Recording artist Bobby Brown has been charged with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, prosecutors in Los Angeles said.
Brown was arrested Monday after police pulled him over for talking on his cell phone and he appeared intoxicated.
A representative for the Los Angeles City Attorney's office told E! News Brown also was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level greater than 0.08 percent.
All three charges are misdemeanors.
E! News said Brown attorney Tiffany Feder was unavailable for comment.
The 43-year-old New Edition singer has been in the spotlight since his ex-wife, multiple-Grammy Award winning recording star Whitney Houston, drowned last month in a hotel bathtub after using cocaine and prescription drugs.
The recording artists, who both battled addictions to drugs and alcohol over the years, have one child together, 19-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.
Brown has a history of arrests for battery, motor vehicle-related offenses and parole violations.
