Drug charges against El DeBarge dropped

LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) -- Singer El DeBarge says he'll get back to work now that drug charges in Los Angeles have been dropped.

Prosecutors decided not to pursue the case due to a lack of evidence, which was needless to say a relief, El DeBarge said through his attorney.

"The family said they were relieved to hear that no charges will be filed against El," attorney Spencer Vodnoy told TMZ.com. "At the end of the day the truth appears to have prevailed and I am sure he will be getting back to work on his career, his health and happiness."

TMZ said El DeBarge was pinched Tuesday for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in Encino.
