Mellencamp to be Hall of Fame presenter

CLEVELAND, March 20 (UPI) -- Chuck D, John Mellencamp, Stevie Van Zandt and Chris Rock are to be presenters at next month's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland.

The 27th annual event is to be taped April 14 and will air May 5 on HBO.

The Beastie Boys will be inducted by Chuck D; Donovan will be inducted by Mellencamp; Small Faces/The Faces will be inducted by Van Zandt; Red Hot Chili Peppers will be inducted by Rock; Laura Nyro will be inducted by Bette Midler; Freddie King will be inducted by Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top; Don Kirshner will be inducted by Carole King; Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd and Glyn Johns will be inducted by Robbie Robertson; and The Blue Caps, the Comets, the Crickets, the Famous Flames, the Midnighters and the Miracles will be inducted by Smokey Robinson.

More details about performances, additional presenters and special guests will be announced at a later date, organizers said in a posting on the Hall of Fame's Web site Tuesday.
