SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 19 (UPI) -- U.S. recording star Macy Gray covers songs by Metallica, Radiohead, Colbie Caillat and the Eurythmics on an album set for release this month, 429 Records said.

The label describes "Covered" as a "collection of all new recordings of handpicked songs she's chosen to reinterpret in her own inimitable fashion."

"The album contains biting, dark signature tracks such as Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up' or My Chemical Romance's 'Teenagers,' which Gray subversively overhauls into something wholly her own," 429 Records said in a news release. "Also included are short skits featuring J.B. Smoove, Nicole Scherzinger and a guest appearance by Idris Elba."

The album is set for release March 26.

Gray also is planning a worldwide concert tour to support the project.
