NEW YORK, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The producers of "The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess" say the Broadway revival's run has been extended through September.

Starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier, the musical was originally announced as a limited run to end June 24. It will now play until Sept. 30 "due to overwhelming popularity and demand," the producers said in a news release Thursday.

The show officially opened Jan. 12 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
