LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Pop star Madonna has announced plans for a 2012 concert tour two days after her triumphant performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in Indianapolis.

The Madonna 2012 World Tour is to begin May 29 in Tel Aviv, Live Nation said Tuesday.

Tickets are to go on sale Friday for shows in Israel and the United Kingdom. Tickets for North American dates will become available Monday.

The shows will include arenas, stadiums and special outdoor venues, including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec and a return visit to South America, as well as Australia where she has not performed in 20 years. The tour will stop in 26 European cities, including London, Paris, Milan and Berlin, Live Nation said.

The first of 26 North American shows is scheduled for Aug. 28 in Philadelphia. The slate of concerts also includes a Sept. 6 show in New York's Yankee Stadium and an Oct. 10 performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Madonna's next album, "MDNA," is set for release March 26.

"Madonna's track record as a world-class entertainer and touring artist speaks for itself. Her artistry, talent and creative productions get bigger and better with each tour and Madonna 2012 will be no exception. We are thrilled to have her back on the road and know her fans feel the same," Arthur Fogel, chief executive officer of Live Nation Entertainment Global Touring, said in a statement.
