LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- The Rev. Al Sharpton is to officiate and deliver the eulogy at recording star Etta James' private funeral service in Los Angeles, her representative said.

James died Jan. 20 at a hospital in Riverside, Calif., of complications from leukemia. She was 73.

A public viewing is to be held Friday evening at Inglewood Cemetery, the late singer's representatives said Tuesday.

A private funeral for immediate family and friends is scheduled for Saturday at the Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, Calif.

The family has requested donations be sent to The Rhythm & Blues Foundation.
