LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- U.S. rock 'n' roll star Bruce Springsteen says on his Web site his new album "Wrecking Ball" will be released March 6 on Columbia Records.

Springsteen's 17th studio album features 11 new songs.

"Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life," said Springsteen's longtime manager Jon Landau in a statement on the Web site. "The lyrics tell a story you can't hear anywhere else and the music is his most innovative in recent years. The writing is some of the best of his career and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on 'Wrecking Ball.'"

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are scheduled to tour the United States and Europe this year.
