TULSA, Okla., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. country music star Blake Shelton said on his Web site his father Dick died Wednesday in Oklahoma after a yearlong illness.

The singer did not reveal the cause of his father's death or age, but did mention he was "surrounded by loved ones" when he died.

"I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time and thank you for all your prayers. Your support means the world to me. I love you guys," Shelton said in a statement to fans on his Web site.

The musician said he is postponing all dates on his "Well Lit & Amplified Tour 2012" through Sunday.

Shelton is one of the judges on the vocal competition series "The Voice."
