LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- "Hugo" screenwriter John Logan has been hired to pen the script for a big-screen version of the Broadway musical "Jersey Boys," The Hollywood Reporter said.

The story of how Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons became one of the most popular singing groups in history won four Tony Awards in 2006. Featuring the band's songs "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man," its various stage productions have earned more than $1 billion in ticket sales.

Logan's other film credits include the screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's drama "Coriolanus" and the upcoming James Bond movie "Skyfall." His play "RED" also earned six Tony Awards in 2010.
