"A Different Kind of Truth" is Van Halen's first original studio album with singer David Lee Roth since the band's classic multi-platinum album "1984." Roth left the band, which was formed in Los Angeles in 1974, in 1985. He reunited with Van Halen for a string of successful shows in 2007-08.

The group Friday announced dates for its upcoming North American concert tour, which is to kick off Feb. 18 in Louisville, Ky. Kool & The Gang will join Van Halen for select dates.

Tickets for the Live Nation-promoted tour go on sale beginning Jan. 14 at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
