Russell Brand files for divorce from Katy Perry

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- British comedian Russell Brand has filed for divorce in Los Angeles from American pop star Katy Perry, court records indicate.

The celebrities were married a little more than a year and have no children.

Brand cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the split, TMZ reported Friday.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," he said in a statement issued to People.com. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
